Manager, Government and Community Relations

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Business Development for Care1st, the role of Manager of Government and Community Relations is critical to the success of Blue Shield of California and the Government Affairs Department in realizing its goals and objectives. This individual will play a key role on the Government Affairs team and the Blue Shield of California / Care1st team in establishing local relationships and identifying opportunities for partnerships with local communities and stakeholders.
Identifying, developing, and building relationships with local governments, community organizations, associations, social services associations, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders who share or impact Blue Shield of California's mission to ensure access to care for all Californians in a sustainably affordable manner;
Raising community awareness of Blue Shield of California's mission and programs;
Identifying partnerships that support Blue Shield of California's mission, programs, and business strategies;
Monitoring local health related policy developments and working across the organization to assess impact and response;
Educating Blue Shield of California and Care1st leaders about local resources and connecting leaders with partners;
Representing Blue Shield of California / Care1st in the community and acting as a liaison to address issues or concerns;
Working with the External Affairs teams and Markets teams to coordinate communications, events, and promotion materials;
Education/Credentials
Minimum of 5 years of experience in public affairs, community relations, government affairs, non-profit organization management, or related field
Bachelor's degree required
Candidate Profile and Requirements
Experience with Medi-Cal and other publicly funded programs preferred
Experience working with local or county government agencies preferred
Experience with health policy preferred
Deep understanding and ability to navigate local stakeholder communities
Established relationships in key communities
SoCal position:
History and community relationships in Southern California, particularly Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, preferred.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
