Project Finance Analyst - Assistant Vice President

Job Summary

The Project Finance Associate is a key member of the Enterprise Project team within the Integrated Services for the Americas Division (ISA) of Union Bank. This position will be reporting directly to the VP - Project Finance Manager. In this role, you will be providing comprehensive and complex financial analyses for the bank s enterprise project funding and will support the Enterprise s project appropriations process.

Major Responsibilities include:

Strategic and Advisory:

  • Support the budget and forecast process for Bank-Wide technology projects, including associated analysis of financial results, developing financial summaries, and presentation to senior management. Provide written analysis and interpretation of results
  • Collaborate with project finance teams, enterprise PMs, Corporate FP&A, etc to understand and advise on project financials
  • Coordinate the drawdown formalities of the banks approved semi-annual project spending budgets across the bank and within the Line of Business. Improve and establish financial governance as needed for reporting and annual budgeting (capital and expense)
Reporting and Analyses
  • Monthly reporting and analyses of consolidated project P&Ls by division
  • Compilation and consolidation of financial data from project source system to enable financial comparisons and analytics between actuals, appropriations, drawdowns, etc.
  • Labor cost accounting and processing for monthly GL cost accounting, weekly project cost accounting and cross-entity cost accounting
  • Trouble-shooting and follow up Q&A
  • Supporting PMs and teams on project financials and variance explanations
  • Responsible for monthly calendar of team activities
  • Reconcile project source financial system to general ledger
  • Manage ad hoc reporting and analyses requests from the parent company and other lines of business
Technical Skills:
  • Develop and maintain complex excel files and/or database solutions that contain large volumes of frequently changing data
  • Ability to integrate and synthesize data from multiple source systems
  • Support special projects and analyses by constructing appropriate detailed financial analysis and high-level summaries

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Finance, Business or Accounting, Comp Sci or something similar required
  • CPA, CFA or MBA desired
  • 5+ years of increasingly more complex responsibility in performing financial analysis project financial experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in streamlining manual processes with automated solutions
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with data reporting and collection tools. Financial administration back ground of major project costing tools a plus (e. g. Clarity)
  • Advanced Excel skills required; Access Database and Visual Basic experience a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with Hyperion, PeopleSoft, Power Point and Business Objects a plus

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
